Not a big story in a game when 17th ranked Asefa Estudiantes (2-10) was defeated on the road by second ranked Valencia Basket (10-2) 96-84 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Valencia Basket. Asefa Estudiantes was better in fourth quarter 23-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencia Basket dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Asefa Estudiantes' 32. Valencia Basket looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Belgian point guard Sam Van Rossom (188-86) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 6 assists and Montenegrin Bojan Dubljevic (205-91, agency: Beo Basket) who added 21 points (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. The best for the losing side was Bulgarian power forward Dejan Ivanov (205-86, agency: Beo Basket) with 19 points and guard Jaime Fernandez (186-93) scored 11 points and 5 assists. Four Valencia Basket and five Asefa Estudiantes players scored in double figures. Asefa Estudiantes' coach gave the chance to play for ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Valencia Basket maintains second position with 10-2 record having just two points less than leader Real Madrid. Asefa Estudiantes lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with ten games lost. Valencia Basket will face Cajasol (#8) in Sevilla in the next round where they are favorite. Asefa Estudiantes will play at home against FIATC Joventut (#10) and hope to win that game.
