Regular Season Round 22: Denain - Chalons-Reims 79-81

Important game to mention about took place in Denain. Second ranked Chalons-Reims (15-6) saved a 2-point victory on the road edging 8th ranked Denain Voltaire (11-11) 81-79 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It looked good early as Denain Voltaire took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Chalons-Reims had a 26-19 second period charge getting the lead and Denain Voltaire was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 79-81. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Ronald Slay (203-81, college: Tennessee, agency: David Lee services) who helped to win the game recording 15 points and 9 rebounds. The other American import power forward John Turek (206-83, college: Nebraska) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Forward Valentin Bigote (196-92) replied with 18 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Brandon Brown (201-85, college: CS San Bernar.) added 22 points in the effort for Denain Voltaire. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Chalons-Reims have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Denain Voltaire at the other side dropped to the ninth place with 11 games lost. They share the position with Hyeres-Toulon. Chalons-Reims will play against Fos Ouest (#7) in Fos-sur-Mer in the next round where they are favorite. Denain Voltaire will play on the road against Nantes and hopes to get back on the winning track.
