Very important is a road loss of third ranked ALM Evreux (14-8) against twelfth ranked Poitiers (10-12) on Friday night. Visiting ALM Evreux was defeated by Poitiers in Poitiers 74-61. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of ALM Evreux. The game was mostly controlled by Poitiers. ALM Evreux managed to win fourth quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Poitiers made 7 blocks. American-British power forward Laurence Ekperigin (201-88, college: Le Moyne) had a double-double by scoring 17 points and 16 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Karim Souchu (198-79, college: Furman) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side swingman Lahaou Konate (196-91) responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Samme Givens (198-89, college: Drexel) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Poitiers moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Nantes and Boulazac. Loser ALM Evreux dropped to the fourth position with eight games lost. They share it with Maurienne. Poitiers will meet Boulazac Basket (#11) on the road in the next round. ALM Evreux will play against Aix-Maurienne (#4) having rather not much hope for a victory.
