Regular Season Round 22: Boulazac - Bourg 88-89

A very interesting game took place in Boulazac. It ended with only one-point home defeat of 11th ranked Boulazac Basket (10-12) to fourth ranked JL Bourg (14-7) 89-88 on Friday evening. Guest team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. JL Bourg made 23-of-25 charity shots (92.0 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Boulazac Basket helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Power forward Alexis Tanghe (207-90, agency: Beo Basket) notched a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds to lead the effort and American forward John Flowers (200-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: KMG Sports Management) supported him with 21 points. Four JL Bourg players scored in double figures. JL Bourg's coach Frederic Sarre allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 19 points and 9 rebounds by American forward Tyler Smith (201-86, college: Tennessee) did not help to save the game for Boulazac Basket. His fellow American import swingman Jason Siggers (194-85, college: Albany) added 19 points for lost side. JL Bourg have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Boulazac Basket at the other side keeps the eleventh position with 12 games lost. JL Bourg's next round opponent will be SPO Rouen (#15) at home which should be an easy win for them. Boulazac Basket will play against Poitiers (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
