Regular Season Round 18: Qingdao E. - Zhejiang CB 113-123

Everything went according to plan when eighth ranked Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (10-8) beat on the road bottom-ranked Qingdao Eagles (3-15) 123-113 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank. Qingdao Eagles was better in fourth quarter 35-22. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Qingdao Eagles 48-24 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 53.3 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank made 7 blocks. Qingdao Eagles were plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Dewarick Spencer (193-82, college: Arkansas St., agency: Higher Vision Sports) scored 33 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 5 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import power forward Ivan Johnson (203-84, college: CS San Bernar.) chipped in 28 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) with 54 points (!!!) (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) and Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Shandong FB and Guangsha L. Qingdao Eagles lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom position with 15 games lost. Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank will face Jiangsu Dragons (#12) in Nanjing in the next round where they are favorite.
