Regular Season Round 25: Akita NH - Oita H.Devils 90-70

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Akita. First ranked Akita Happinets faced 3rd placed Oita Heat Devils. Host Akita Happinets (21-4) smashed guests from Oita (12-11) 90-70. The game was mostly controlled by Akita Happinets. Oita Heat Devils managed to win second period 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Akita Happinets dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Oita Heat Devils' 38. American players dominated the game. Center Chas McFarland (213-86, college: Wake Forest) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field) for the winners and swingman Richard Roby (198-85) chipped in 20 points. At the losing side forward Devonne Giles (203-83, college: Texas Tech) responded with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and center Byron Allen (203-81, college: Northwestern St.) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 13 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Akita Happinets. They maintain first place with 21-4 record. Oita Heat Devils lost their third game in a row. They keep the third position with 11 games lost. They share it with Yokohama BC and Hamamatsu P.. Akita Happinets will again meet at home Oita Heat Devils (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Oita Heat Devils will have a break next round.
