Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Artland Dragons (10-5) and Phoenix Hagen (7-7), which took place in Hagen. 4th placed Artland Dragons lost to eleventh ranked Phoenix Hagen in a road game 74-87 on Sunday. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Artland Dragons. The hosts trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 55-39 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Phoenix Hagen made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for guard Mark Dorris (188-85, college: Marshall, agency: Court Side) who led the winners and scored 21 points. Forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) accounted for 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Four Phoenix Hagen players scored in double figures. point guard David Holston (168-86, college: Chicago St., agency: Priority Sports) came up with 17 points and 4 assists and center Kenny Frease (212-89, college: Xavier) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for Artland Dragons in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Phoenix Hagen moved-up to ninth place. Loser Artland Dragons keep the fourth position with five games lost. They share it with Telekom Bsk. Phoenix Hagen will meet higher ranked ratiopharm Ulm (#8) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Artland Dragons will play against EnBW Ludwigsburg (#10) and hope to secure a win.
