Regular Season Round 14: Rapla - TTU 68-74 OT

Date: December 28, 2013
Eighth-ranked Rapla (4-11) made lots of trouble for fourth ranked TTU (9-4) on Saturday. The visitors from Tallinn managed to secure only six-point victory 74-68. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 10 points after three quarters before their 17-7 charge, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time and get a 6-point victory in overtime. TTU dominated on the defensive end, holding Rapla to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They also forced 19 Rapla turnovers. Strangely Rapla outrebounded TTU 42-0 including a 13- advantage in offensive rebounds. Rapla was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was power forward Joonas Jarvelainen (202-90) who scored 26 points and 8 rebounds. The former international forward Mooses Kaja (198-88) chipped in a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds. The former international forward Andre Parn (202-77) produced 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and international guard Martin Dorbek (194-91) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Rapla's coach Indrek Ruut rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. TTU maintains fourth position with 9-4 record. Rapla at the other side keeps the eighth place with 11 games lost. TTU will have a break next round. Rapla will play at home against Kalev/Cramo (#3) and hope to win that game.
