Regular Season Round 26: Akita NH - Oita H.Devils 103-78

An interesting game for Akita Happinets (22-4) which hosted in Akita 3rd ranked Oita Heat Devils (12-12). First ranked Akita Happinets had an easy win 103-78. The game was mostly controlled by Akita Happinets. Oita Heat Devils managed to win third quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Oita Heat Devils 43-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. Akita Happinets looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. American players dominated also this game. Swingman Richard Roby (198-85) notched 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and forward Ruben Boykin (201-85, college: N.Arizona) supported him with 15 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. Akita Happinets' coach Kazuo Nakamura felt very confident that he used 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Even 17 points and 9 rebounds by forward Devonne Giles (203-83, college: Texas Tech) did not help to save the game for Oita Heat Devils. Swingman Gabriel McCulley (200-89, college: UTEP) added 15 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the guests. Four Akita Happinets and five Oita Heat Devils players scored in double figures. Akita Happinets have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 22-4 record. Oita Heat Devils lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the fourth place with 12 games lost. Akita Happinets will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Oita Heat Devils will play against the league's second-placed Kyoto Hannar. (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
