Regular Season Round 12: Trefl Sopot - PGE Turow 85-74

The game between Top Four teams took place in Sopot. Second ranked host Trefl Sopot (9-2) defeated 4th ranked PGE Turow (7-4) 85-74. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-74. Trefl Sopot dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to PGE Turow's 40. They outrebounded PGE Turow 40-25 including a 27-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Pawel Leonczyk (202-86) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 14 rebounds and international swingman Adam Waczynski (199-89) who added 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Trefl Sopot's coach Mariusz Niedbalski used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was American forward J.P. Prince (198-87, college: Tennessee) with 18 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Tony Taylor (185-90, college: G.Washington) scored 17 points. Five Trefl Sopot and four PGE Turow players scored in double figures. Trefl Sopot have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 9-2 record behind leader Stelmet ZG. PGE Turow at the other side keeps the fourth place with four games lost. Trefl Sopot are looking forward to face league's leader Stelmet ZG in Zielona Gora in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. PGE Turow will play at home against AZS Koszalin and is hoping to prove to their fans that the loss was just an accident.
