Very expected game when 10th ranked GreenTops Netanya (4-8) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Maccabi Haifa (7-5) 90-74 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 9-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 90-74. Maccabi Haifa looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Venezuelan Donta Smith (200-83, college: SE Illinois JC) who helped to win the game recording 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international guard Ben Rice (195-90) who added 13 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American guard Dawan Robinson (188-82, college: Rhode Island) with 14 points, 6 assists and 4 steals and point guard Eyal Shulman (192-87) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Defending champion moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Hapoel Eilat and Ironi Nes-Ziona. GreenTops Netanya lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with eight games lost. Maccabi Haifa will face higher ranked Maccabi T-A (#3) in Tel-Aviv in the next round and it may be the game of the week. GreenTops Netanya will play at home against Maccabi Ashdod (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
