Regular Season Round 13: AV Cantu - Sutor MGR 89-78

Date: December 29, 2013
Very expected game when 14th ranked Sutor Montegranaro (4-9) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Cantu (9-4) 89-78 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Cantu. Sutor Montegranaro managed to win second period 27-24. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cantu made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The former international Pietro Aradori (194-88) stepped up and scored 21 points and 4 assists for the winners and point guard Stefano Gentile (191-89) chipped in 20 points. Four Cantu players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Josh Mayo (182-87, college: Ill.-Chicago, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) responded with 21 points and 9 assists and the former international guard Daniele Cinciarini (194-83) scored 17 points. Sutor Montegranaro's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Cantu keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Sutor Montegranaro keeps the fourteenth place with nine games lost. Cantu will meet at home Trenkwalder RE (#7) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Sutor Montegranaro will play against Air Avellino (#12) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
