An interesting game took place in Rishon Le-Zion where higher ranked Ironi Nes-Ziona (7-5) was upset on the court of eleventh ranked Maccabi Rishon (4-8) 83-74. The hosts were already 11 points ahead after 3 quarters before a 20-18 Ironi Nes-Ziona's run in the last quarter cut the lead to 83-74 at the end of the game. Maccabi Rishon dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Ironi Nes-Ziona's 38. It was a good game for American forward Tasmin Mitchell (201-86, college: LSU) who led his team to a victory with 25 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import power forward James Thomas (205-80, college: Texas) contributed with 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. American guard Anthony Goods (191-87, college: Stanford) replied with 18 points and the former international point guard Meir Tapiro (192-75, agency: Avi Zilberman) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Ironi Nes-Ziona. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maccabi Rishon moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Netanya. Newly promoted Ironi Nes-Ziona keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Maccabi Rishon's next round opponent will be higher ranked Galil Gilboa (#9) in Rosh Pina and it may be quite challenging game. Ironi Nes-Ziona will play at home against Hapoel Holon (#7) and hope to win that game.
