Regular Season Round 13: Liaoning - Shanxi 71-66

Undefeated Shanxi Rui Flame (12-1) recorded its first loss in Anshan on Tuesday night. Visitors were defeated by eighth ranked Liaoning Hengye (6-6) 71-66. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Shanxi Rui Flame. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. They outrebounded Shanxi Rui Flame 41-23 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. American power forward Jayne Appel (193-88, college: Stanford) fired a double-double by scoring 26 points and 24 rebounds for the winners. The former international forward Zengyu Ma (183-84) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds. American Maya Moore (183-89, college: Connecticut) produced 33 points (!!!), 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 6 steals and forward Yue Zhang (184) added 8 points respectively for lost side. Liaoning Hengye moved-up to seventh place. Newly promoted Shanxi Rui Flame still keeps top position with one game lost. Liaoning Hengye are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Shenyang Golden Lions (#12) in Dandong in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Shanxi Rui Flame will play at home against Zhejiang Far East (#5) and is hoping to win this game.
