Regular Season Round 13: Shanghai - Yunnan 75-60

No shocking result in a game when third ranked Shanghai Octopus (10-3) defeated at home 10th ranked Qujing Yunnan (2-10) 75-60 on Tuesday. The game without a history. Shanghai Octopus led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Qujing Yunnan's 36. Shanghai Octopus forced 19 Qujing Yunnan turnovers. American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds for the winners and point guard Xiufeng Shi (178-87) chipped in 20 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). At the losing side American center Lindsay Taylor (203-81, college: UCSB) responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 12 rebounds (made all of her seven free throws) and forward Fan Feng (185-90) produced a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Shanghai Octopus maintains third place with 10-3 record having just two points less than leader Shanxi. Loser Qujing Yunnan keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Shanghai Octopus will meet at home Guangdong Dolphins (#4) in the next round. Qujing Yunnan will play against Bayi Kylin (#9) in Yinzhou and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
