Regular Season Round 26: Takamatsu FA - Niigata Albirex 63-50

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Niigata Albirex (18-8) against sixth ranked Takamatsu FA (11-11) on Tuesday night. Visiting Niigata Albirex was defeated by Takamatsu FA in Takamatsu 63-50. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Niigata Albirex. It looked good early as Niigata Albirex took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Takamatsu FA had a 19-3 second period charge getting the lead and Niigata Albirex was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 50-63. Takamatsu FA dominated on the defensive end, holding Niigata Albirex to just 3 points in second quarter. They made 21-of-23 charity shots (91.3 percent) during the game. American power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 21 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import swingman Dexter Lyons (198-81, college: Cent.Florida, agency: I.D.S. Law) chipped in 20 points and 4 assists during the contest. American forward Rodney Webb (200-83, college: Florida Atlantic) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and Kimitake Sato (184-84) scored 6 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Takamatsu FA moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Sendai 89ers. Niigata Albirex at the other side keeps the third position with eight games lost. Takamatsu FA will play against Gunma (#10) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Niigata Albirex will have a break next round.
