Regular Season Round 12: Al Arabi - Al Gharafa 73-81

Date: January 1, 2014
The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Doha: Al Gharafa (#5) and Al Arabi (#3). Al Arabi was defeated at home 73-81 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Al Arabi. Worth to mention a great performance of Egyptian guard Omar Salem (190) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 10 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Larry Blair (183-84, college: Liberty, agency: Norton Sports Management) who added 21 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Bosnian forward Adnan Hodzic (203-88, college: Lipscomb) with 27 points and 8 rebounds and the former international point guard Mansour El Hadary (177-90) scored 14 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Gharafa (8-4) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with defeated Al Arabi. Al Gharafa's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Sadd.
