There was no surprise when 18th ranked Qingdao Eagles (3-17) lost at home to eighth ranked TianJin Steel (11-9) 110-102 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 34-18 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. TianJin Steel made 25-of-32 free shots (78.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Qingdao Eagles turnovers. Qingdao Eagles were plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Jordanian forward Zaid Abbas (203-83) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 28 points and 15 rebounds. American point guard Sebastian Telfair (183-85) contributed with 23 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American-Puerto Rican center Peter Ramos (222-85) replied with 27 points and 5 rebounds and Palestinian center Sani Sakakini (204-88) added 21 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Qingdao Eagles. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. TianJin Steel moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Zhejiang CB. Qingdao Eagles lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 17 games lost. TianJin Steel will face Bayi Rockets (#15) in Ningbo in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Qingdao Eagles will play on the road against Fujian in Jinjiang and hope to win that game.
