Regular Season Round 27: Okinawa GK - Saitama Bron. 83-62

BJ League top team - Okinawa GK (19-3) had no problems winning another game on Thursday. This time they crushed eleventh ranked Saitama Broncos (2-22) 83-62. The game was mostly controlled by Okinawa GK. Saitama Broncos was better in second period 20-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Okinawa GK forced 19 Saitama Broncos turnovers and outrebounded them 45-33 including 30 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American Anthony McHenry (202-83, college: Georgia Tech) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds. Trinidad and Tobago power forward Kibwe Trim (208-84, college: Sacred Heart) helped adding 11 points and 10 rebounds. Four Okinawa GK players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Michael Joiner (200-81, college: Florida St.) with 14 points and 7 rebounds and the other American import swingman John Humphrey (188-80, college: Middle Tenn.St.) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Okinawa GK maintains first place with 19-3 record. Saitama Broncos lost seventeenth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh position with 22 games lost. Okinawa GK will have a break next round. Saitama Broncos will play at home against Gunma (#10) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
