Regular Season Round 12: Al Shamal - Al Wakrah 86-80

There was a minor upset in Doha where 7th ranked Al Wakrah (4-8) was defeated by ninth ranked Al Shamal (2-10) 86-80 on Thursday. Al Shamal looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Bahrain guard Abdul Rahman (174-88) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 9 rebounds and American point guard Tyvon Williams (182-87, college: S.Carolina St.) who added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists during the contest. Five Al Shamal players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Dalron Johnson (206-81, college: UNLV) with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and Rwandan-American guard Kenny Wilson (193-84, college: Boise St.) scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). Al Shamal moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Al Ahli. Al Wakrah lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with eight games lost. Al Shamal will face higher ranked Al Khor (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
