Regular Season Round 12: Qatar - Al Jaysh 69-100

Date: January 2, 2014
Another interesting game was again a derby match of two local teams from Doha: Al Jaysh (#4) and Qatar Sports Club (#10). Qatar Sports Club was smashed at home by 31 points 69-100 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. Al Jaysh dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to Qatar Sports Club's 34. They outrebounded Qatar Sports Club 51-37 including a 37-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. Al Jaysh looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Qatar Sports Club's players. Americans were the main players on the court. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Shawn Taggart (207-85, college: Memphis) who helped to win the game recording 28 points and 6 rebounds and center Dwayne Jones (211-83, college: St.Joseph's) who added 10 points and 17 rebounds during the contest. Four Al Jaysh players scored in double figures. Coach Dragoslav Milovanovic's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The best for the losing side was swingman Chauncey Leslie (183-81, college: Iowa) with 22 points and 4 assists and guard Melquan Bolding (190-88, college: Fair Dickinson) scored 17 points and 8 rebounds. Al Jaysh (9-4) moved-up to third place. Qatar Sports Club lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
