An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Guanajuato. Third ranked Abejas faced second-ranked Pioneros. Host Abejas (19-7) defeated guests from Cancun (20-7) 97-80. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Pioneros. The game was mostly controlled by Abejas. Pioneros was better in third quarter 21-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Roman Andrade (188, college: N.Mexico Highlands) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. American-Jamaican forward McHugh Mattis (198-84, college: S.Florida) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Five Abejas players scored in double figures. American forward Robert Hornsby (201-82, college: Troy) answered with 22 points and 8 rebounds and the former international forward Stephen Soriano (201-84, college: Colorado Mesa) added 22 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Pioneros. Pioneros' coach let to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Abejas have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. They maintain third place with 19-7 record having four points less than leader Halc.Rojos. Pioneros at the other side keep the second position with seven games lost. Abejas will again play against league's second-placed Pioneros in Cancun in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Pioneros will have a break next round.
