1Liga top team - SIDEn Torun (13-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eleventh ranked Astoria Bydg. (3-11) in Bydgoszcz 71-65. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Astoria Bydg. won third quarter 20-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when SIDEn Torun won last quarter 16-11. Astoria Bydg. was plagued by 28 personal fouls down the stretch. Aleks Perka (201-87, college: Rice, agency: Stanley International) notched 15 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and Bartosz Bochno (193-88) supported him with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Even 14 points and 8 rebounds by Dorian Szyttenholm (193-83, agency: Promotex) did not help to save the game for Astoria Bydg.. Mateusz Bierwagen (196-88, agency: Promotex) added 11 points for the hosts. Astoria Bydg.'s coach Jaroslaw Zawadka rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. SIDEn Torun have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 13-1 record. Astoria Bydg. lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the eleventh place with 11 games lost. They share the position with AZS PP and MCKiS Jaworz.. SIDEn Torun will play against Kutno (#4) at home in the next round. Astoria Bydg. will play against Spojnia (#14) in Stargard and hopes to get back on the winning track.
