Regular Season Round 27: Fukuoka Rizing - Toyama Grouses 80-77

The most exciting game of round 27 in the BJ League took place in Fukuoka. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of second-best Toyama Grouses (20-6) to eighth ranked Fukuoka Rizing (9-15) 80-77 on Saturday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Toyama Grouses. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-77. It was a great evening for American forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 19 rebounds. His fellow American import swingman Michael Dale (197-84, college: S.Illinois, agency: Blacktop Management) helped adding 10 points and 7 rebounds. Dale is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Fukuoka Rizing players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga, agency: Norton Sports Management) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 14 rebounds and Joho Masashi (183-82) scored 23 points and 4 assists. Fukuoka Rizing moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Osaka Evessa. Toyama Grouses at the other side keep the second position with six games lost. Fukuoka Rizing is looking forward to face Shimane Magic (#10) at home in the next round. Toyama Grouses will play against Shinshu BW (#5) in Nagano and are hoping to win this game.
