Regular Season Round 11: DCU Mercy - Ulster Rockets 77-36

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked DCU Mercy as it allowed them to take a leadership position. DCU Mercy smashed 7th ranked Ulster Rockets in Dublin 77-36. DCU Mercy dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Ulster Rockets' 14. They outrebounded Ulster Rockets 37-23 including a 31-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. American-British forward Meagan Hoffman (183-82, college: Adams St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. The former international guard Sarah Woods (174-88) contributed with 24 points for the winners. Four DCU Mercy players scored in double figures. DCU Mercy's coach felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Guard Mairead McNally (175-88, college: Stetson) answered with 13 points and 5 rebounds and Helena Fairbairn added 8 points in the effort for Ulster Rockets. DCU Mercy (8-1) have an impressive series of seven victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Ulster Rockets at the other side keep the seventh place with seven games lost. Ulster Rockets will play next round against Liffey Celtics trying to get back on the winning streak. DCU Mercy will try to continue on its current victory against second ranked TM Hotel Cork on the road.
