Regular Season Round 14: Jiangsu - Beijing 77-79

Eighth-ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (6-8) used its home court advantage to challenge second ranked Beijing Great Wall (12-2) in Yixing on Saturday. The visitors from Beijing managed to secure only two-point victory 79-77. However their fans expected much easier game. Jiangsu Phoenix was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Beijing Great Wall shot 61.8 percent from the field. Australian center Elizabeth Cambage (203-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 9 rebounds (on 15-of-19 shooting from the field). point guard Honghua Zhou (174-84) contributed with 12 points for the winners. Power forward Jinsee Lai (185-86) replied with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) and international point guard Xiaojia Chen (177-88) added 19 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Jiangsu Phoenix. Four Jiangsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. Beijing Great Wall have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-2 record behind leader Shanxi. Jiangsu Phoenix at the other side keeps the eighth place with eight games lost. They share the position with Bayi. Beijing Great Wall are looking forward to face Shanghai Octopus (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Jiangsu Phoenix will play against Heilongjiang Chenneng (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
