Regular Season Round 14: Shanghai - Guangdong 81-82

Important game to mention about took place in Shanghai. Fourth ranked Guangdong Dolphins (10-4) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging one of their biggest challengers Shanghai Octopus (10-4) 82-81 in the game for the third place. Shanghai Octopus cut a 16-point first quarter deficit to one at the end of the game. Guangdong Dolphins made 18-of-21 charity shots (85.7 percent) during the game. Nigerian-American power forward Nnemkadi Ogwumike (189-90, college: Stanford) had a double-double by scoring 32 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and international center Hongpin Huang (196-89) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) responded with a double-double by scoring 43 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds and point guard Xiufeng Shi (178-87) scored 13 points. Guangdong Dolphins have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Shanghai. Guangdong Dolphins will play against Bayi Kylin (#8) in Yinzhou in the next round where they are favorite. Shanghai Octopus will play on the road against the league's second-placed Beijing Great Wall (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
