Date: January 4, 2014
The game with biggest result difference took place in Quaregnon. Local Belfius Mons-Hainaut (8-5) outscored 10th ranked Kangoeroes (2-12) 83-60. It looked good early as Kangoeroes took an 4-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Belfius Mons-Hainaut had a 22-10 second period charge getting the lead and Kangoeroes were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 60-83. Belfius Mons-Hainaut dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Kangoeroes' 24. American power forward Jason Love (206-87, college: Xavier) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import point guard Demontez Stitt (186-89, college: Clemson, agency: Two Points) supported him with 19 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Even 18 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) by American power forward Maurice Pearson (206-89, college: Georgetown, KY, agency: Hart Sports Mngm) did not help to save the game for Kangoeroes. Serbian guard Stefan Zivanovic (196-89) added 18 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Belfius Mons-Hainaut moved-up to fifth place. Newly promoted Kangoeroes stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. Belfius Mons-Hainaut's next round opponent will be higher ranked Okapi Aalstar (#3) on the road and it may be quite challenging game. Kangoeroes will play against the league's second-placed Base Oostende (#2) and hope to win that game.
