Regular Season Round 13: Asseco - Anwil 78-72

There was an upset in Gdynia where 3rd placed Anwil (9-4) was defeated by ninth ranked Asseco (5-8) 78-72 on Sunday. Anwil was trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 25-18 charge of Asseco, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Anwil's 34. Asseco looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American point guard A.J. Walton (184-90, college: Baylor) fired 8 points, 6 rebounds and 14 assists for the winners. Russian Fedor Dmitriev (204-84, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 15 points and 6 rebounds. Four Asseco players scored in double figures. Asseco's coach David Dedek used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lithuanian Deividas Dulkys (196-88, college: Florida St.) produced 22 points and American power forward Keith Clanton (206-90, college: Cent.Florida) added 15 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Asseco maintains ninth place with 5-8 record. Anwil at the other side keeps the third position with four games lost. Asseco will face bottom-ranked Stabill Jezioro (#12) in Tarnobrzeg in the next round. Anwil will play at home against PGE Turow (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
