Rather expected game in Doha where 9th ranked Al Shamal (2-11) was defeated by sixth ranked Al Khor (6-7) 64-56 on Sunday. American guard Jamarr Hardy (191-83, college: Lenoir CC) fired 20 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Senegalese forward Moustapha Niang (206-83) chipped in a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Hardy is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. American-Jamaican guard Brian McKenzie (193-88, college: Providence) produced 22 points and 7 rebounds and American point guard Tommy Smith (182-90) added 13 points and 10 rebounds respectively for lost side. Newly promoted Al Khor maintains sixth place with 6-7 record. Loser Al Shamal dropped to the eighth position with 11 games lost. They share it with Al Ahli. Al Khor will meet Al Wakrah (#7) on the road in the next round. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Gharafa.
