Regular Season Round 21: Jiangsu D. - Beijing Ducks 103-101

The most exciting game of round 21 in the CBA took place in Nanjing. This derby game ended with only two-point defeat on the road of second-best Beijing Ducks (15-6) to twelfth ranked Jiangsu Dragons (9-12) 103-101 on Sunday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Beijing Ducks. Beijing Ducks were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 9-point lead after three quarters before a 29-18 charge of Jiangsu Dragons, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 24 Beijing Ducks turnovers. 24 personal fouls committed by Beijing Ducks helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Marcus Haislip (208-80, college: Tennessee) stepped up and scored 39 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds for the winners and power forward Jackson Vroman (208-81, college: Iowa St.) chipped in 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The best for the losing side was swingman Damien Wilkins (201-80, college: Georgia, agency: Priority Sports) with 33 points (!!!), 5 rebounds and 4 assists and power forward Randolph Morris (211-86, college: Kentucky) scored 19 points and 9 rebounds. Four Jiangsu Dragons and five Beijing Ducks players scored in double figures. Beijing Ducks' coach LuLei Min rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Jiangsu Dragons maintains twelfth place with 9-12 record. Beijing Ducks at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. Jiangsu Dragons are looking forward to face higher ranked Fujian (#9) in Jinjiang in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Beijing Ducks will play at home against Bayi Rockets (#15) and are hoping to win this game.
