No shocking result in a game when eleventh ranked Brasilia (6-6) smashed at home 16th ranked Espirito Santo (2-6) 98-73 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Brasilia. Espirito Santo was better in third quarter 25-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Espirito Santo to just 7 points in second quarter. Brasilia looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international point guard Welington Dos Santos (185-81) fired 18 points and 5 assists for the winners. International guard Alex Ribeiro (191-80, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 18 points and 5 rebounds. Four Brasilia players scored in double figures. American guard Rashaun McLemore (195-86, college: CS Northridge) produced 20 points and 6 rebounds and Eddy Carvalho (194-87) added 15 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Palmeiras and Uberlandia. Espirito Santo lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixteenth position with six games lost. Brasilia will face Minas (#13) in Belo Horizonte in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Espirito Santo will play on the road against Universo/Goiania and hope to win that game.
