Regular Season Round 27: Fukuoka Rizing - Toyama Grouses 70-82

Not a big story in a game when 8th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (9-15) was defeated at home by second ranked Toyama Grouses (20-6) 82-70 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyama Grouses. Fukuoka Rizing was better in third quarter 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Toyama Grouses dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Fukuoka Rizing's 32. They outrebounded Fukuoka Rizing 45-33 including 34 on the defensive glass. It was a great evening for American forward Sam Willard (205-88, college: Pacific) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 20 rebounds. Guard Mito Takeshi (184-85) helped adding 19 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was American forward Reginald Warren (204-81, college: W.Florida) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import swingman Michael Dale (197-84, college: S.Illinois, agency: Blacktop Management) scored 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four Toyama Grouses and five Fukuoka Rizing players scored in double figures. Toyama Grouses have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 20-6 record having just -5 point less than leader Akita NH. Fukuoka Rizing lost seventh consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with 15 games lost. Toyama Grouses will face Shinshu BW (#5) in Nagano in the next round. Fukuoka Rizing will play at home against Shimane Magic and hope to win that game.
