Regular Season Round 27: Takamatsu FA - Gunma 86-81
Date: January 5, 2014
Very expected game when 10th ranked Gunma (4-20) was defeated on the road by fifth ranked Takamatsu FA (13-11) 86-81 on Sunday. However just five-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Gunma was trailing by 5 points at halftime but managed to get 6-point lead after three quarters before a 27-16 charge of Takamatsu FA, which allowed them to win the game. It was a great evening for American power forward Paul Williams (208-83, college: St.Bonaventure, agency: I.D.S. Law) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). His fellow American import swingman Dexter Lyons (198-81, college: Cent.Florida, agency: I.D.S. Law) helped adding 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Five Takamatsu FA players scored in double figures. Takamatsu FA's coach Kenzo Maeda used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech) with 24 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and swingman Shingo Okada (186-83) scored 15 points. Takamatsu FA moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Yokohama BC and Hamamatsu P. Loser Gunma keeps the tenth position with 20 games lost. Takamatsu FA will have a break next round. Gunma will play on the road against Saitama Broncos (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
