There was no surprise when 12th ranked Maccabi Ashdod (2-12) was defeated on the road by ninth ranked GreenTops Netanya (6-8) 82-69 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-69. GreenTops Netanya made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. American power forward Rashaun Freeman (206-84, college: Massachusetts) stepped up and scored 23 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and guard Yehu Orland (193-81) chipped in 16 points. At the losing side naturalized American point guard Zack Rosen (185-89, college: Pennsylvania) responded with 11 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists and American Xavier Silas (196-88, college: N.Illinois) scored 14 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. GreenTops Netanya maintains ninth place with 6-8 record. Maccabi Ashdod lost their seventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 12 games lost. GreenTops Netanya will meet Bnei Hasharon (#10) in the next round. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Maccabi Haifa and hope to secure a win.
