Regular Season Round 30: Angeles - Panteras 101-78

The game between closely ranked teams ended with eighth ranked Angeles' (12-10) home victory over 9th ranked Panteras (11-17) 101-78 on Monday. The game was mostly controlled by Angeles. Panteras was better in second period 24-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 20-of-23 free shots (87.0 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was American guard Marcus Elliott (191-84, college: Louisiana Tech) who had a double-double by scoring 38 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists (went 12 for 12 at the free throw line !!!). The other American import swingman O'Louis McCullough (198-82, college: Francis Marion) chipped in 15 points. Four Angeles players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Puerto Rican point guard Ricardo Melendez (179-83) who recorded 31 points (went 13 for 13 at the free throw line !!!) and American power forward Seth Scott (208-81, college: Portland St.) added 17 points and 11 rebounds respectively. Panteras' coach Juan Cardona gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Angeles have a solid four-game winning streak. Newly promoted Angeles maintains eighth position with 12-10 record. Loser Panteras dropped to the tenth place with 17 games lost. Angeles will face higher ranked Fuerza Regia (#5) in Monterrey in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Panteras will play at home against Lechugueros (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
