Regular Season Round 13: Maccabi R.Hen - Hap.Petah Tikva 72-64

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Hap.Petah Tikva (2-10) was defeated on the road by third ranked Maccabi Ramat Hen (8-4) 72-64. Hap.Petah Tikva was ahead by 5 points at the halftime before a 25-8 third quarter run of Maccabi Ramat Hen. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American swingman Karima Christmas (182-89, college: Duke) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Her fellow American import Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) contributed with 17 points, 7 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American guard Juanita Ward (180-86, college: Syracuse, agency: Merit Management Group) answered with 19 points and 9 rebounds and guard Keren Nechama (176-90) added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Hap.Petah Tikva. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. The victory was the fourth consecutive win for Maccabi Ramat Hen. They maintain third place with 8-4 record having just two points less than leader Maccabi Ashdod. Hap.Petah Tikva at the other side stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. Maccabi Ramat Hen will play against league's second-placed Elitzur Ramla on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Hap.Petah Tikva will play against Elitzur Holon (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
