Very expected game in Hangzhou where 10th ranked Qujing Yunnan (2-12) was crushed by fifth ranked Zhejiang Far East (9-6) 81-60 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Zhejiang Far East. Qujing Yunnan was better in fourth quarter 24-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zhejiang Far East dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Qujing Yunnan's 24. They outrebounded Qujing Yunnan 39-21 including 25 on the defensive glass. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Zhejiang Far East made 8 blocks. It was a great evening for American center Brittney Griner (203-90, college: Baylor) who led her team to a victory scoring 26 points, 7 rebounds and 5 blocks (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field). Forward Tong Shi (184-89) helped adding 18 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). The best for the losing side was forward Yang Jia (191-87) with 12 points and 5 rebounds and American center Lindsay Taylor (203-81, college: UCSB) scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 blocks. Zhejiang Far East maintains fifth place with 9-6 record, which they share with Heilongjiang. Qujing Yunnan lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the tenth position with 12 games lost. Zhejiang Far East will face higher ranked Guangdong Dolphins (#4) in Guangzhou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Qujing Yunnan will play at home against the league's leader Shanxi Rui Flame (#1) and hope to win that game.
