NBB top team - Winner/Limeira (10-2) managed to deliver another win on Tuesday. This time they beat sixth ranked Mogi (7-7) in Mogi das Cruzes 78-67. Mogi was trailing by 7 points at halftime but managed to get 3-point lead after three quarters before a 29-15 charge of Winner/Limeira, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 20 Mogi turnovers. American guard David Jackson (196-82, college: Penn St.) notched 22 points and 5 rebounds to lead the effort and Dominican-American guard Ronald Ramon (182-86, college: Pittsburgh) supported him with 19 points (was perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line). Even 22 points by power forward Thomas Gehrke (203-82, college: UTEP) did not help to save the game for Mogi. American guard Jason Smith (183-83, college: Al.-Huntsville) added 16 points for the hosts. Winner/Limeira maintains first position with 10-2 record. Loser Mogi dropped to the seventh place with seven games lost. Winner/Limeira will meet at home Vivo/Franca (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Mogi will play against Flamengo in Rio de Janeiro and hope to secure a win.
