Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Ironi Ashkelon and 9th ranked Elitzur Yavne had identical 5-7 record. This time Ironi Ashkelon used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Yavne 87-78 on Tuesday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 28-17. But Elitzur Yavne won third quarter 27-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Elitzur Yavne 39-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. Dudu Shamriz (191-91) stepped up and scored 23 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and international Raviv Pitshon (201-89) chipped in 17 points and 11 rebounds. Five Ironi Ashkelon players scored in double figures. At the losing side American guard Tamir Jackson (190-90, college: Rice) responded with 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and naturalized Russian Igor Simin (199-84, agency: Avi Zilberman) scored 19 points and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws). Ironi Ashkelon (6-7) moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Hapoel K/S. Elitzur Yavne lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with eight games lost. They share it with Ironi K-A. Ironi Ashkelon will meet at home Hapoel Kfar Saba (#9) in the next round. Elitzur Yavne will play against Ironi Ramat Gan and hope to secure a win.
