There was no surprise in Doha where 10th ranked Qatar Sports Club (1-14) was defeated by fifth ranked Al Arabi (10-4) 91-75 on Tuesday. Al Arabi dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Qatar Sports Club's 36. They outrebounded Qatar Sports Club 52-35 including a 38-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was Bosnian forward Adnan Hodzic (203-88, college: Lipscomb) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 19 rebounds. American swingman William Byrd (201-85, college: Ark.-Pine Bluff) chipped in a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds. American guard Melquan Bolding (190-88, college: Fair Dickinson) produced 21 points and 5 assists and his fellow American import swingman Chauncey Leslie (183-81, college: Iowa) added 16 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Arabi moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Jaysh and Al Gharafa. Qatar Sports Club lost fourth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 14 games lost. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Jaysh.
