The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Groningen as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Groningen smashed 7th ranked Rotterdam at home 78-41. The game without a history. Groningen led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rotterdam to just 7 points in third quarter. They outrebounded Rotterdam 40-25 including 26 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American swingman Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) who led his team to a victory with 17 points and 6 rebounds. Canadian power forward Ross Bekkering (203-87) contributed with 9 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American guard Matthew Otten (196-81, college: San Francisco St., agency: R.H.Consultancy) answered with 14 points and center Bart Stolk (206-93) added 6 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Rotterdam. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Rotterdam lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh place with 11 games lost. Rotterdam will play next round against strong Den Helder trying to get back on the winning streak. Groningen will try to continue on its current victory against tenth ranked Weert at home.
