The game in Njardvik supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Haukar (11-5) played at the court of 8th ranked Njardvik (3-13). Haukar smashed Njardvik 86-64 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Haukar. Njardvik managed to win third quarter 19-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Haukar dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Njardvik's 32 and made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Njardvik 48-25 including a 32-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 27 points, 22 rebounds and 4 assists and guard Margret Halfdanardottir (173-94) supported her with 9 points and 4 assists. Four Haukar players scored in double figures. Even 26 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists by American guard Nikitta Gartrell (175-88, college: N.Carolina St.) did not help to save the game for Njardvik. Guard Asdis Vala Freysdottir (167-94) added 10 points for lost side. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Haukar have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 11-5 record having just two points less than leader Snaefell, which they share with Keflavik. Loser Njardvik stay at the bottom place with 13 games lost. Haukar will meet at home Grindavik (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. Njardvik will play against KR in Reykjavik and hope to secure a win.
