Undefeated Al Rayyan (13-1) recorded its first loss in Doha on Wednesday night. Hosts were defeated by third ranked Al Jaysh (10-4) 91-87. It ended at the same time the 13-game winning streak of Al Rayyan. Al Jaysh forced 19 Al Rayyan turnovers. 26 personal fouls committed by Al Rayyan helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American center Dwayne Jones (211-83, college: St.Joseph's) who had a double-double by scoring 19 points and 27 rebounds. The other American import forward Shawn Taggart (207-85, college: Memphis) chipped in 30 points and 8 rebounds. American point guard Boney Watson (183-78, college: Sam Houston St.) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals and the former international forward Tanguy Ngombo (197-84) added 20 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Jaysh have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 10-4 record having just three points less than leader Al Rayyan, which they share with Al Gharafa and Al Arabi. Defending champion Al Rayyan still keeps top place with one game lost. Al Jaysh's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Arabi.
