Regular Season Round 14: Pinheiros/Sky - Paulistano 91-93

The most exciting game of round 14 in the NBB took place in Sao Paolo. This derby game ended with only two-point home defeat of second-ranked Pinheiros (9-4) to fourth ranked Paulistano (9-4) 93-91 in the game for the second place. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Pinheiros. The guests trailed by 6 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 8-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-91. Paulistano made 28-of-34 free shots (82.4 percent) during the game. They also forced 23 Pinheiros turnovers. 25 personal fouls committed by Pinheiros helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American point guard Kenny Dawkins (175-87, college: Lamar) orchestrated the victory by scoring 20 points and 8 rebounds. The other American import guard Desmond Holloway (190-90, college: Co.Carolina) contributed with 20 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) replied with 33 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and American point guard Joe Smith (192-77, college: Al.-Huntsville) added 13 points and 7 assists in the effort for Pinheiros. Five Paulistano and four Pinheiros players scored in double figures. Paulistano moved-up to second place, which they share with Pinheiros/Sky. Paulistano is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Liga Sorocaba (#17) in Sorocabana in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Pinheiros will play on the road against Minas (#13) in Belo Horizonte and is hoping to win this game.
