A very close game took place in Buenos Aires between Obras and Atenas. Tenth ranked Obras (3-4) got a very close home victory over 8th ranked Atenas (3-3). Obras managed to escape with a 3-point win 77-74 on Thursday evening. Atenas was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a great evening for international Federico Van Lacke (191-80) who led his team to a victory scoring 17 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!). American forward Cedric McGowan (200-85, college: Cincinnati) helped adding 16 points. Obras' coach Silvio Jose Santander used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side the former international forward Walter Herrmann (203-79) responded with 30 points and 6 rebounds and the former international Diego Guaita (203-83) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Obras moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Quimsa and Libertad S. Loser Atenas keeps the eighth position with three games lost. Obras will meet at home Quimsa (#11) in the next round. Atenas will play against Boca Juniors in Buenos Aires and hope to secure a win.
