Regular Season Round 14: Al Gharafa - Al Shamal 113-78

The game with biggest result difference took place in Doha. Local Al Gharafa (10-4) outscored 9th ranked Al Shamal (2-12) 113-78. Al Gharafa forced 28 Al Shamal turnovers. They shot the lights out from three nailing 16 long-distance shots on high 51.6 percentage. Al Gharafa players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American guard Larry Blair (183-84, college: Liberty, agency: Norton Sports Management) notched 52 points (!!!), 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals to lead the effort and Nigerian forward Manny Adako (203-87, college: Northeastern, agency: Court Side) supported him with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Al Gharafa's coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) by American power forward Jonathan Huffman (213-86, college: Iona, agency: Gamble Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Al Shamal. American-Jamaican guard Brian McKenzie (193-88, college: Providence) added 25 points and 9 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Al Gharafa have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with Al Jaysh and Al Arabi. Al Shamal at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 12 games lost. Al Gharafa's next round opponent will be Al Wakrah (#7) at home. Al Shamal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Ahli.
