Leader Perth Wildcats recorded the fourteenth victory on Friday night. This time they beat 8th ranked Townsville Crocodiles (4-11) 102-87. The game was mostly controlled by Perth Wildcats. Townsville Crocodiles was better in third quarter 22-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Perth Wildcats shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 59.3 percentage. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Perth Wildcats made 7 blocks. American swingman James Ennis (201-90, college: Long Beach St.) fired 29 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. His fellow American import guard Jermaine Beal (191-87, college: Vanderbilt) chipped in 20 points. American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) produced 15 points and the former international swingman Peter Crawford (193-79) added 16 points respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Perth Wildcats maintains first place with 14-3 record. Townsville Crocodiles lost sixth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Perth Wildcats will face New Zealand Breakers (#7) in Auckland in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Townsville Crocodiles will play on the road against the league's second-placed Adelaide 36ers in Findon and hope to win that game.
