Regular Season Round 14: Melilla - Oviedo 81-75

There was a surprise result when eleventh ranked Melilla Baloncesto (5-9) defeated at home higher ranked Oviedo CB (9-5) 81-75 on Friday. Oviedo CB trailed by 16 points at halftime and as many as 17 after three quarters before a 25-14 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 75-81 at the end of the game. Melilla Baloncesto outrebounded Oviedo CB 41-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. Power forward Hector Manzano (207-80) had a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and American power forward Jonathan Durley (203-88, college: Wichita St.) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Melilla Baloncesto players scored in double figures. Melilla Baloncesto's coach Alejandro Alcoba used a ten-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Alvaro Munoz (197-90, agency: Duran International) responded with 18 points and Dutch forward Kevin van Wijk (203-89, college: Valparaiso) scored 17 points and 6 rebounds. Melilla Baloncesto moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Clinicas Rincon. Newly promoted Oviedo CB dropped to the fourth position with five games lost. Melilla Baloncesto will face again higher ranked Oviedo CB (#6) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
