Regular Season Round 17: Hacettepe - Istanbul DSI 76-85

Everything went according to plan in Ankara where fifteenth ranked Istanbul DSI (6-11) beat 17th ranked Hacettepe (3-14) 85-76 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-76. Istanbul DSI dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Hacettepe's 24. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. American point guard Damier Pitts (177-89, college: Marshall, agency: Two Points) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 assists for the winners and Croatian power forward Nenad Delic (210-84, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 21 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Pitts is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Istanbul DSI's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Center Eyup Aydogan (206-89) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds and Bosnian forward Dejan Jeftic (200-89) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Five Hacettepe players scored in double figures. Istanbul DSI moved-up to thirteenth place, which they share with Buyukcekmece. Hacettepe lost their eleventh game in a row. They keep the seventeenth position with 14 games lost. Istanbul DSI will face higher ranked Antalya (#11) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hacettepe will play against the league's leader Darussafaka (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
